The open letter to the organizers of Mobile World Congress (MWC 2020) & GSMA
The organizing committee of RIF+CIB 2020 (www.rif.ru) and the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC - www.raec.ru) express the industrial support to the organizers of Mobile World Congress (MWC 2020) & GSMA.
This is the first time in 14 years when you have made decision to cancel the international occasion due to the worldwide concern for life and health of people and participants in terms of the Coronavirus, logistic problems and other obstacles.
On behalf of the organisation, managing dozens of the substantial industrial gatherings in Russia we perceive how many efforts and resources were invested in organizing process of such a large event as MWC 2020 and how it was painful to cancel it.
Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest exhibition, where yearly participate thousands of high level professionals in hi-tech industry from across the globe. MWC is a platform which traditionally embraces the most remarkable presentations of technical innovations. MWC, is a famous and popular project among millions of people who are involved in the industry of high technologies and interested in its thriving and development.
We know for sure, that behind the curtains of this hi-tech festival stay the high competent professionals who make all possible and impossible to organise the occasion which will be rooted in minds of participants through years.
We are sincerely sympathize with all happening. However, the caring for all participants is the primary aim of the organizers and the inherent component of any gathering.
Moreover, we are certain that next year MWC will be more large-scale and attract even more people.
In order to soften all negative consequences, we would like to offer our assistance and the discussion platform of RIF+CIB 2020 which takes place on April 15-17. It is a great chance to elaborate all issues and themes planned for discussion in frames of MWC 2020 which are relevant for RIF+CIB format.
Furthermore, we would be delighted to provide all foreign participants with free of charge registrations and badges on RIF+CIB 2020 in accordance with your recommendations.

Оргкомитет РИФ+КИБ 2020 (www.rif.ru) и Российская Ассоциация Электронных коммуникаций (РАЭК – www.raec.ru) выражают отраслевую поддержку организаторам Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (MWC 2020) и GSMA.
Впервые за 14 лет вами было принято решение об отмене февральского MWC, в связи с общемировой ситуацией и глобальной озабоченность вспышкой коронавируса, логистическими проблемами и другими обстоятельствами непреодолимой силы.
Как организаторы крупнейших российских ИТ-мероприятий, мы осознаем, сколько сил и ресурсов было потрачено на организацию такого масштабного мероприятия как MWC 2020, и как сложно вам было принять окончательное решение о его отмене.
Mobile World Congress – это культовое мероприятие, ежегодно собирающее более сотни тысяч профессионалов технологического бизнеса со всего мира. MWC – это площадка, где традиционно проходят самые громкие презентации новинок индустрии высоких технологий. MWC – это проект, которого ждут и к которому готовятся миллионы людей по всему миру, связанные с технологиями, их развитием и использованием.
За кулисами этого праздника технологий – стоит команда организаторов, которые вкладывают в него свою душу и сердце, делают все возможное, чтобы участники были довольны и запомнили эти три дня на всю жизнь.
Нам искренне жаль, что в этом году MWC не состоится, но забота об участниках и всех, кто находится на площадке, продемонстрированная организаторами и GSMA – это самая важная составляющая любого мероприятия.
Мы уверены, что в следующем году MWC получится еще более масштабным и привлечет еще больше участников.
Минимизируя негативные эффекты от принятого вами решения, готовы предложить рассмотреть площадку апрельского 24-го Российского Интернет Форума (РИФ+КИБ 2020, который запланирован на 15-17 апреля 2020 года – www.rif.ru) для отработки тем и направлений, планировавшихся к обсуждению на MWC и релевантных формату РИФа.
Также Оргкомитет РИФа готов предоставить бесплатно регистрации и бейджи участника РИФ+КИБ 2020 для ряда международных и российских участников, которые не смогли посетить MWC, рекомендованных вами.
